Show a labelled heart diagram and its caption. Ask which feature helps explain the role of a ventricle. Learners connect a label or caption detail to their answer and identify what the diagram alone cannot establish.

Teaching sequence
- Choose a diagram caption from the current Biology unit. Set one question for Caption First and model how to locate a relevant feature without supplying the answer.
- Learners complete Caption First: Use the caption to test whether the image supports the claim. Ask them to mark the exact evidence they used, then compare the evidence and interpretation with a partner.
- Use this check: “Which exact detail in the source supports that answer?” Have each learner apply the same reading move to a fresh section and give an independent answer supported by a source detail.
