Model extract · Social organization
This original teaching extract shows selected choices. It is shorter than a complete Paper 1 response and is not an IB-marked exemplar.
I want to join the peer-mentoring team because I know how difficult it can be to ask a question when everyone else appears certain. When I helped a new member at our club, I initially gave too much advice. I learned to ask what they wanted to try and then support that choice. This experience taught me that effective support begins with listening. As a mentor, I would offer practical guidance, respect personal boundaries and seek adult help when a concern exceeded my role.

- Select a theme task. Plan all required actions before writing; develop examples rather than listing them.
- Draft independently, review audience and task coverage, then revise one paragraph.

Support without fixing every sentence
Offer an audience–purpose planning grid, a few useful connectors and oral rehearsal. Then remove the paragraph openings and ask for independent wording. Extend by developing an alternative viewpoint or a justified qualification.
