A worked writing example

Fictional player: I started listening before making decisions.
Interviewer: Can you describe a time when listening changed your plan?
Fictional player: During practice, a teammate suggested a different formation. We tried it before deciding.
Look for these choices
- Questions serve a clear purpose.
- Follow-ups respond to answers rather than a fixed list.
- The written interview preserves the speaker’s meaning.
Teacher prompt
What did the answer reveal, and what could you ask next?
Adjust the support: rehearse a sentence aloud, offer a small phrase bank or mark a model together. Ask learners to make a fresh choice independently when they are ready.
