Notice the language demand

Choose one task learners will do this week. Separate the subject thinking from the language needed to show it.

  1. Inspect

    Read the instructions and the expected response. Name one verb, term or text feature learners need.

  2. Distinguish

    Compare “understand evaporation” with “explain how temperature affects evaporation using a causal link”. The first names subject knowledge; the second makes the communication demand visible.

  3. Apply

    Rewrite one instruction so the action, purpose and expected response are clear. Preserve the original subject challenge.
